Adorable toy.

These flashcards are not what I expected. I had previously purchased the My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (Touch & Feel) by DK Publishing and loved them so much that I thought I'd try to find more "first words" flashcards containing different pictures. These are no where near in quality - the cards are very thin and flimsy and the pictures are not as vibrant and appealing. I would NOT recommend these flashcards. Try the ones mentioned in my review... these are MUCH nicer!

I have used these cards for years. I purchased replacement sets since mine are on their last legs. Laminate them before use to preserve them.Perfect for 1st talkers. Cards are rare especially these.

About the Author

Matt A Wood graduated with a BS degree in Physics from Iowa State University, and Master's and PhD degrees in Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent a year as a NATO Postdoctoral Fellow at the Université de Montreal in Quebec before accepting a position as assistant professor at The Florida Institute of Technology. He spent the 2008-2009 academic year on sabbatical at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where he was first introduced to the Python programming language. In 2012, he joined the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Texas A&M University-Commerce as department head. His current research focuses on mass-transfer binary star systems known as cataclysmic variables. He has been an author on more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, and a similar number of non-refereed publications. He lives in Greenville, Texas, and when not doing astronomy or administrative tasks he enjoys playing guitar and bass, walking his Doberman, Dexter, and exploring the world with his wife Janie.

I absolutely love this book ! If you were like me and thought boxing was just about slugging think again ! After reading this book I realized how underated of an art boxing is . If you have studied arts like wing chun or southern praying mantis you will appreciate the knowledge and the similarities in parrying . No wonder Bruce Lee added more boxing into his art ! Boxing is truly the sweet science .

I like the idea of learning to counterpuch, but love the idea of understanding when,, what, where and how to do it correctly. This book teaches all of the above. It is full of good pictures and gives plenty of fighting offensive and defensive counter punching scenarios. There is a wealth of knowledge in this book and no shortage of photographic examples to increase your fighting brain power and muscle memory. I like it - a lot!

This was a gift to a boxing teacher, and he liked it.

One of the best books on the subject I have ever seen

I love that it has numerous pictures throughout the book to illustrate the punches. I have found this very useful in my boxing gym.

Very readable publication. A little chatty script but great photos and clear message. However, nothing replaces the actual physical contact training!

Pretty good I like it . Theres a lot that goes unsaid in the book and it could be better written but for guy whos learning , I thinks it decent

There are some good tactics in the book but it is incredibly basic - if you were already trained in boxing it won't help you (it didn't help me at least). Also, all of the pictures that are used as demos for offensive/defensive maneuvers are inexplicably done by left handed fighters... it gets really old trying to reverse it in your head.
