Will we ever learn? This is the story of a Jewish family from Łódź, Poland. It tells of their struggle to stay alive as they are separated and sent to different concentration camps. Some family members return to Poland, some do not. As we look around our world today, man’s self centeredness continues. It would be easy to slip back into these horrors. We must never forget, or allow it to be repeated.

Although this book states that it is for 12 year olds, I, a 29 year old, highly enjoyed it. It is a holocaust memoir about Riva and her life in the ghetto and concentration camps. Riva is only 16 years old, however when her mother is sent to a concentration camp, she becomes mother to her younger brothers. Joined by love, Riva is able to keep the family together for only a short time before she is separated and sent to a labor camp. Riva injures her hand and becomes seriously ill. Miraculously, the camp commandant allows her to leave the camp and meet with an outside doctor.This book is well-written and engaging. The reader comes to care for the family and pulls for their survival. Overall this is a good holocaust memoir, which I would recommend for anyone.

I was a little surprised as I had no knowledge of some of these other camps, perhaps because so many writers focused on Auschwitz and Birknau. I enjoyed the spareness of the writing but didn't feel the sorrow and suffering as I read. Perhaps this was because the author was trying to convey the strength of the human spirit and the power of hope.Still, the writing wasn't bad if not completely convincing. I feel that it is worth the read. Maybe more stories of the hope and humanity that existed along with the evil of hatred and ignorance need to be told about the Holocaust--particularly that from a young woman's point of view.

This is a wonderful book. I liked Riva's style of writing. I could imagine myself as another child there with her. I've read many books of the horrors inflicted on the Jewish people, and this would be at the top of my list of favorites.I don't want to give things away, so I can't say much...I wish more information had been given at the end of her freedom, reunions, moving to another country and her new life! I become so attached to the author that I want to continue on with her and see her progression in life.May God bless Riva (Ruth) and her family!

My grandchild was assigned this book to read during the summer. I think this book is real heavy reading for someone that just finished 5th grade. My grandchild did not have any problems reading it. I just think that this book is deep for an 11 year old. I think this book is appropriate for junior high and high school. I read the book myself and I think it is well written. Summer reading should be enjoyable for young kids, and not a task.

I first read this book when I was in middle school, after learning about my family's tragic history (or lack of technically...) and it had been consistently one of my favorite throughout my lifetime. I highly recommend this book to anyone

Needed this really quickly for my daughters homework shopped at several of our local chain store and couldn't find one, good read, easy to understand and chapters were short, nicely written, good book for 11-14 year old to read.

Great volume. This omnibus contains the first three volumes of the manga Gantz. It is absolutely great.

Compiled volumes 1 through 3. Great artwork with dark sci-fi, thriller, and horror themes. The series shifts a lot between storylines and pacing. Would recommend this if you're getting into this series new, or simply want to support the artist by buying it again like I have lol! Great stuff

Until I read this book, I never realized the torment jurors went through in dealing with a case to making a decision. I was in the medical field, so autopsies never bothered me. For jurors to see autopsy photos of dismembered bodies it can be a harrowing experience, that can play psychological games to a person. One of the things our judicial system should do is to provide psychological assistance to jurors, free of charge; being that they believe being a juror is a duty.This book can open one's eyes to our judicial system from the legal and psychological viewpoint.

I have been following this case. I have seen the movie and a few television programs and I followed the trial. I am anxious to start this book.

Good insight on the thought process, and the impact evidence (or lack there of) has on a jury. These jury members break down what different pieces of evidence had an impact on them, which pieces of evidence didn't, how an attorney's appearance in a courtroom makes a difference, how being on a case like this affected their lives, and how they reached their verdict in this infamous case.

I enjoyed this book. Granted it did jump around a bit, but it was interesting to see how the trial affected the jurors. The one thing I came away with was, that Scott Peterson received a FAIR trial. The jurors took their job seriously and some no doubt will be forever changed by what they saw and learned and lived during this process. Goes to show that Scotts actions didn't just affect his and Laci's families but MANY other people.

This book for the most part did not tell me anything that I did not previously read or hear about in the news paper or on TV. However, it did give me an insight into this trial that has never before been available. The book provided me with a point of view of the trial from a sitting juror. Once I read the book I concluded that this jury was committed to working at a decision that was neither popular as has been suggested. These jurors were committed to rendering a decision based on evidence and one that was based on the Laws of the State of California as informed by the court. These 7 Peterson Jurors did a great job at explaining how a jury should function and why their decision to send Scott to California’s Death Row was (based on evidence and testimony) a just and right thing to do. In the end what they accomplished was justice.

A well-done book, not so much in style but in content. I wondered about the thought processes of the jury as they deliberated on the Scott Peterson trial, and I was afraid that Geragos would pull off an acquittal, a la O.J., but I was glad that didn't ultimately happen. I'm an eye-for-an-eye proponent and I think the world would be better off without this scumbag. The state of California shouldn't have to pay to shelter and feed this piece of trash.

Very well written, anyone who has an interest in this case needs to read this. Highest recommendations, this is hard to put down.

First of all, I'd like to sat I feel horribly for the jury. I know this decision must not have been easy. That said, I Found this book rather enlightening as to how the jury came to decision of guilt under circumstantial evidence and the decision of the death penalty.

This is a deceptively comprehensive book. It not only covers Dayton Moore's strategy for guiding the Royals to the World Series, but uses Kansas City as a parable for anyone interested in improving their organization or business. I was curious to see if it would really explain how to build a "championship culture", and I was not disappointed. Some of my notes about the book:On Leadership: You can't fool the players. They respect coaches who demonstrate that they care.On God: A servant of the Lord must be kind to everyone, teach and be patient with difficult people. (I'm not religious but this is a good reminder for everyone.)On Perseverance: The key to baseball is who manages failure the best. Because you're guaranteed to fail.On Helping Others: Don't push or sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside and help others get ahead.On Criticism: If you're motivated by praise you'll be defeated by criticism.Now, a couple things about this book. You should appreciate baseball enough to read the minutiae of scouting, front office management, 3rd base coaching, and so on. Secondly, another reviewer complained that this book spends a lot of time praising tons and tons of people. I don't view this as a bad thing. Rather, it suggests (to me) what a truly humble leader would do when chronicling success - which is to give all the praise to the team.

Solid book about a solid man! I think there is a lot to take away here for the average man, the businessman, the baseball man, or the Christian man. Also, definitely applicable for women too just got on a roll there with the original comments. I really appreciate his dedication to a franchise and a plan, and his willingness to endure hardship and emphasize integrity amidst his players and coaching staff. I also appreciate how he values every on the team or in the Royals organization so highly. I am a yankee, but I've gotta say that this book makes me pull for the Royals just a bit more.

Just started reading this and am excited to learn more about Dayton Moore's philosophies. My husband had the privilege of hearing him speak at a local church here in KC recently. Very impressed with his values - faith, family and professional. I really didn't know what I expected when I purchased this book. It really is about "more than a season", more than a team, more than a business, more than a community of time tested fans. It's about being convicted in your beliefs, humbled by your mistakes, and realizing that baseball is a microcosm of the world . That trusting people and in GOD's PLAN anything is possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I will be sharing it with others.

I love this book. It isn't just a book about building the Royals (which was a fascinating accomplishment in itself). It is about building a culture of success that is applicable in business, non-profit, church, or really any organization. Moore has a handle on finding good people, setting goals, and building a team that works together for success. In his example, you can see a blueprint for how to lead effectively, remove obstacle, and win. Well done and congratulations on another great year with the championship. Well-deserved.

Inspiring, beautiful, and needed in this day and age. Players focused on the team goals and not individual goals is hard to find - yet the Royals organization shows how it can be done. And shows how putting Jesus first can make a difference not only in wins and losses but more importantly in character building, which is always a win. Thank you Dayton!

My 12 year old grandson, baseball enthusiast requested this book. Couldn't say no to a book request! He lived it and passed it on to his older brother and several members (including coaches) on his baseball team. He said it was a great book and he loved it. At age 12, that pretty much says it all! I can't wait to read it too.

I really enjoyed how Dayton described the process for building a championship culture with the Kansas City Royals. It was great to read about his journey and appreciated how he gave glory to God for his success. I recommend this for Royals fans or Christian athletes.

Susan DeNisco is the Director of Graduate Nursing Programs at Sacred Heart University. She coordinated the Family Nurse Practitioner Program there from 2000 - 2010. Susan received a DNP degree in Clinical Leadership from Case Western Reserve University, an MS in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program from Pace University, and a BSN from Western Connecticut State University. Dr. DeNisco is the Executive Director of College of Education and Health Professions, Center for Community Health & Wellness. She served on the Executive Board of the Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society in a variety of elected positions including President from 2005-2009. She is certified as a Childbirth Educator by the Council of Childbirth Education Specialists.

This text book is incomplete, and incoherently bound! The pages jump from 92 to 189 chapter three is incomplete and chapter four is completely missing! Then from page 236 to page 141! Pages 93 through 140 are not present at all. I'm used to The challenges of nursing bit THIS IS RIDICULOIS!

It wasn't what I was expecting. I purchased this book in an attempt to gain insight on research projects, but this is more of a repeat of information learned in theory. With that being said, it includes valuable information and was a good read. Of particular importance, were the chapters on billing and coding.

I definitely like it. Got no choice since it's required in my FNP course.

Had to purchase for class.

Serendipity ser•en•dip•i•ty [the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way]. After completing this book and looking back over the 40+ years of my professional experience it has become clear to me that each step of my education and experience has contributed to this endeavor and given me the unique qualifications necessary to write a comprehensive book on building a grow environment. I certainly never guessed that my objectives and experiences would lead me to the cannabis industry. In 1975 I completed my electrical education followed by 5 years as a field technician and then 11 years of estimating and sales. The next step was project management for large and complex facilities. In 1994 I started a contracting business and obtained three professional licenses; builder, electrician and integrator. During the latter years of contracting I began growing my own indoor cannabis in a shed. When I decided to add a grow light I looked online and was surprised to learn that retail grow stores existed. I prefer hands on shopping and I sought advice that didn't come from contradictory internet blogs. My first experience at a hydroponics store was pleasant; at a time of economic despair this shop was excited about the future. At that time the economy was failing and I had been forced to take a project management job. Shortly after my grow shop visit I was inspired; I quit my job and opened a grow store. During the next 8 years we assisted thousands of growers with day to day questions. My diverse experience came into play (instead of going to waste). I often performed consultation "house-calls" to provide suggestions for improvement. Some customers needed help building their grow rooms or adding power circuits so we built entire rooms or improved existing rooms. Summary: It is a rare combination of skills and experience that would qualify someone to write an effective book on designing and building a room to grow. Years ago when I was living in California I wanted to grow my own. I bought a grow tent and all the stuff that goes with it. I had fun and I did well with it because I had a huge advantage. I had Bill (the author) and his family help me every step of the way. Now that Bill has written this helpful book everyone that wants to learn more can get the excellent help that they need to succeed. It is very well written and has easy to follow descriptions.Aside from that, Bill (Author) became a good friend,a teacher, and father of sorts to me. Very impressed with his dedication, hard work, and great attitude working on the fantastic book! Very impressed and highly recommend if you're looking into starting or bettering your grow projects!

I have read several books relating to the same subject.....there are thousands, and this book by far is the most easy to understand, informative one I've seen yet. Everything is covered from start to finish relating to starting your own grow room....even the expenses incurred and the profits projected. AMAZING BOOK!!

This book is for a novice that wants to grow at home. The title alludes to commercial growing, but the designs are out of date or not practical for commercial growing. The author suggests wood framed greenhouses in the back yard and the commercial space was poorly constructed with flimsy foam panels.Very few pages are spent on layout. Ever heard of rolling tables? The author hasn't either.This might be a good book for a novice looking to use a grow tent or shipping container.

This book is full of excellent photos, drawings and worksheets. Reads like a textbook but easier and more interesting. This book is an will be a great reference to have at my finger tips.Perry

On top of that, Bill is a stand up guy who puts his money where his mouth is! There isn't a single thing he recommends that he hasn't tried and seen results from himself. Do yourself a favor, ditch the "my buddy said" and pick this book up to save the headache, trail and error!

Amazing book that really gets into the details of how to build out a project the right way. So many different projects there is something that lines up with what you are trying to build. Lightly touches on some growing info but the meat of this book is about building your room. Hard to find another source as good as this one!
