I'd been looking for a good SharePoint DR book for a long time but this way exceeded my expectations.This isn't a just for the SharePoint techies, though they will probably get a few good tips out of it. It's a book for all technical employees involved with the DR process. It explores DR in just the right amount of detail an provides some hints of the extended features without getting too bogged down in them.In this book, there were several wow moments, such as the poweshell snippets and cloud approaches. In fact, several times I had to put it down and go and confirm our company was doing it right.As a technical book- the appendix is funny with the DR disaster stories… Particularly with Toy Story 2.Overall a good technical book so set your SharePoint DR on the right track.

Supporting SharePoint in a large production environment can be stressful at times. Worrying about a system failure in a data-center is always an ongoing concern. After reading this eBook, my team has formulated its DR plan, and will be implementing it shortly. By leveraging their combined decades of SharePoint knowledge, the authors have helped my team plan for a full disaster recovery for SharePoint and SQL. I highly recommend this guide when designing your SharePoint environment, to be highly available and able to recover from a site failure in a short amount of time.

The authors of this book have done a great job to navigate an IT administrator through the proper strategies, planning, decision making, and implementing of a disaster recovery project. We all know how complex a SharePoint environment could become and consequently the DR strategies. This book explains in details how to implement an effective SharePoint DR for different strategies. In fact I was so impressed with the amount of "right to the point" information that I found in the book. It feels like "Gosh, these guys have done tons of SharePoint DR projects and they know what they are talking about".This fantastic book is highly recommended for any administrator that wants to do the SharePoint DR in the proper way.

As so often is the case SharePoint gets dropped into people's laps with nothing more than `Congrats, You're in charge." The next phases include a series of deep dives into areas. One of the prime areas should be Disaster Recovery. This book provides a great guide to all the aspects that you need to know to begin your journey in making SharePoint hardened. Just reading blogs and carrying out scripts will not help unless DR is properly planned for and understood. This book provides the overall understanding you need to properly plan.

I found this to be a decent intro to SharePoint DR- skimming the surface on many facets of DR approaches- but not a reference for SharePoint novice admin. Technical depth may be due to the book is not 1000 pages long. The book is clearly written, with screenshots and neatly-outlined explanations. A big help for me.

I wanted to catch up on any changes in the hobby since back when I started, and picked this because of its 5-star rating. I've read many books on reef aquariums, fish and coral over the years and this is easily one of the best. As someone who has had a reef aquarium for over 20 years, I can tell you that his information is accurate and his advice is spot-on. If you're just getting started with a reef aquarium, this is your go-to book.

I recently decided to start a saltwater tank and bought a Biocube 29. During my initial days of research, I combed the internet and found way too much information out there that was either contradicting or confusing (for a noob). I started searching Amazon for a book to read that kept it simple as possible and presented a reasonable amount of information for the money. I decided to download a sample for this book, and really liked the tone (not overly serious and sometimes quite funny), plus it covered everything a noob like me should know (without major overkill or information that might scare you from starting the hobby), so I decided to buy it.I read the entire book over the course of a couple days and LOVED it! The information presented was full and easy to understand, and fun to read. I highly recommend this book if you're thinking about starting a hobby or are in the initial stages of starting. I've gone to it a few times afterwards to re-fresh also, so it's a good point of reference to have on hand later on. I joined the author's blog and found it to be informative and he's very open to help anybody that might have a quirky question (like me!). Totally worth $8...don't hesitate especially if you enjoy the sample Kindle provides.

This book was a great introduction into the hobby, offering a great foundation for diving into the saltwater world. It was entertaining to read, and flowed well. This is hardly a comprehensive (or advanced) resource, so I would recommend this book as one component of your saltwater fish keeping library.

With a few decades of old school Amazon fresh water aquarium husbandry, I was encouraged to go salt water with a nano 20 gallon all in one tank. I needed a starting point resources, and found it 5 star in this book. Thank you for writing it!

As a beginner in the world of saltwater I've been reading every book I can find on the subject. This book and the other two written by the author have by far been the most informative and interesting as a beginner. The information in all three books have been to the point, realistic, and very easy to comprehend. A few books I've read you would need a degree in marine biology to understand but the author does a great job translating the never ending information needed to know for this hobby. I consider all three books a must read for anyone interested in the hobby, the authors knowledge mixed with his humor makes all three books an informative and easy read.

Most helpful of all & i've purchased & read 15 now. Many of the others are filled with great information it's just that this book gives you confidence to start & the desire to do a good job of it. He keeps it simple & gives you the rationale which makes you want to learn more. wish it was bound & not just an e-book...

Clear, simply terms and explanations for all of the basics in setting up and maintaining a salt water aquarium. I loved the humor throughout - it took what could have been a dry topic and made it entertaining!!! Thank you Al!!!

I am a musician and I will be touring China. I decided that I should read a book on Chinese etiquette. I found this book somewhat helpful, but not as much as I would like. Most of the book seems geared to a large business that wants to operate in China. There were many helpful tips, but I felt that for a vacationer, or casual visit that this book was not really what you would want. If you do own a company and want to do business in China, this would be a good FIRST book. You would want a more in depth reading after.

Great book to learn about the cultural norms of China. Very interesting topics and is very modernized.

No one wants to be the ugly AMerican who does something to insult a person of another country. I think the book has helpful tips. But lets face it until I get to China (not for another month) I really won't know how helpful the book was. (thus the 4 star rating instead of 5 star))

Great book and handy guide with lots of helpful information. Not overwhelming but has excellent tips. I will find out if it is accurate when I visit China.

Even if I wouldn't have a trip to China coming up this book is a very interesting read to gain insight into Chinese habits, customs and culture.

This book is NOT for beginners wanting to learn how to handle paint and brushes and canvas.And that's just the first great thing about it.I've looked at it a dozen times in the two months I've had it and still find it fresh on every reading. I was fortunate to find it while browsing in a library in a city I was visiting and was overjoyed to find it again at Amazon.This book makes me remember why I made the decision to paint non-objectively and reinforces that choice.The examples she uses to illustrate are high quality reproductions of excellent art from accomplished praticioners and the chapter materials are perfectly chosen and ordered. There is nothing superfluous in the writing.I'd say Ms. Perry has done us all a great service by writing this book and she should be very proud of it. Thank you, Ma'am!

Some great stuff in here, but seen better. Quality was brand new paperback of course, but I've seen some pretty cool abstract painting books.

It's a pity to dismiss Vicky Perry's book if you have done absolutely no abstract painting, because you may well find it invaluable further down the track. The text provides advanced theories that will be well beyond someone who is a complete beginner, but will be a mine of information for the experienced amateur as well as the art student.I purchased this book before I found Brian Ryder's "Beyond Realism" (see my review of this book) and was initially as challenged by Vicky Perry's text as other reviewers. However, having now worked my way through Ryder's book (and two other's I mention at the end of this review) I found that the concepts and techniques in "Abstract Painting" began to click, and even found them refreshing and exciting. What is more, the examples of abstract art in Perry's book are from professionals, which are hardly open to criticism from amateurs. Okay, so I don't like them all either, but that can only be a plus: you can ask yourself - how would I express the artist's idea myself? (You can't do that with the one's you like - they've already made the definitive statement!)This is no paint-by numbers book for two reasons: firstly, by its very nature, abstract art cannot be taught literally, in formal steps - as is technical drawing, for example. Secondly, the author quite reasonably assumes that the reader has some experience, not only in the fundamentals of art making, but also in basic forms of abstract expression. If you are short on either of these skills, you need to start elsewhere.Contrary to what other reviewers claim, there are plenty of books available that can get a beginner started on abstract painting. It is just that such books are not necessarily titled "abstract." They tend to come under the cateories of design, or creativity. Even collage books like those of Gerald Brommer are a good introduction to abstract principles - with instruction included.For the absolute beginner, I would recommend beginning with Mary Todd Beam's "Celebrate your Creative Self." All the exercises in this book are abstract, and clear instructions are given as to materials and techniques. You even get to copy to some extent! Next, I recommend Maxine Masterfield's "Painting the Spirit of Nature." That also gives techniques, but assumes more experience. Try Vicky Perry's Book after you have cut your teeth on these two - or something similar. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

This is a great book! It goes into the philosophy of abstract painting, methods, materials, composition, etc. The book also emphasizes each artist's creativity. The artist's interpretation and creativity is what art is all about, and even more so with abstract art, as abstract artists aren't painting something easily recognizable (i.e. a barn). The author did a great job in this book!

I love this book! It gives you so much insight and items to think on that will really stir your creativity. I suppose if you are not an artist and just looking to pick up skills it would be helpful, but def not for the person who knows nothing on the subject.

Great introduction and VERY helpful- don't skip over it. Kind of hard to figure out how the footnote system works. Authors did a great job putting all the material/translations together.

this is a phenomenal book, very goog paper and diagramation, very good notes and sources. very interesting resource for the mythological searcher

Greeks and Romans had an extensive mythology. It was used in poetry, hymns, plays, allusions in histories and, of course, art. Even they had trouble keeping track of all the contradictory material so handbooks were produced to summarise the various mythological cycles. Apollodorus (who ever he was) wrote in Greek some time between the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD and Hyginus wrote in Latin some time in the 1st century AD. As the Greeks and Romans became Christians they felt the need to preserve these texts to help them understand other pagan works like the Illiad and the Aeneid.Apollodorus called his book the 'Library'. It covers creation, the titans, Jason and the Golden Fleece, Heracles, Oedipus, the seven against Thebes, the Trojan War and the return of the heroes. Needless to say these myths are summarised at a rapid pace. Apollodorus takes a chronological format in presenting the myths. Unfortunately, the last part of the 'Library' only survives in an even briefer summary (or epitome). Hyginus did a similar thing in Latin in 277 short chapters.There are 19 helful genealogical tables that help you keep track of who is related to who and plenty of good maps. Greek mythology always took place in the real world so the myths are linked to a particular place. The works of Apollodorus and Hyginus aren't great pieces of literature but they aren't difficult to read and are authentic ancient texts. This book is well worth it!

Great book, great condition. I never actually read it because I dropped the class it was for, but I will be keeping it for a later read.
