We always couple them with (usually) a Frommer's travel book since each provides different perspectives on the area covered. I love the pictures in the DK books, which is totally missing in a Frommer's book. Frommer's books do have much more comprehensive information on hotels, sights, restaurants, etc., however, so both are important.

These flashcards are not what I expected. I had previously purchased the My First Touch & Feel Picture Cards: First Words (Touch & Feel) by DK Publishing and loved them so much that I thought I'd try to find more "first words" flashcards containing different pictures. These are no where near in quality - the cards are very thin and flimsy and the pictures are not as vibrant and appealing. I would NOT recommend these flashcards. Try the ones mentioned in my review... these are MUCH nicer!

I have used these cards for years. I purchased replacement sets since mine are on their last legs. Laminate them before use to preserve them.Perfect for 1st talkers. Cards are rare especially these.

Matt A Wood graduated with a BS degree in Physics from Iowa State University, and Master's and PhD degrees in Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent a year as a NATO Postdoctoral Fellow at the Université de Montreal in Quebec before accepting a position as assistant professor at The Florida Institute of Technology. He spent the 2008-2009 academic year on sabbatical at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, where he was first introduced to the Python programming language. In 2012, he joined the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Texas A&M University-Commerce as department head. His current research focuses on mass-transfer binary star systems known as cataclysmic variables. He has been an author on more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, and a similar number of non-refereed publications. He lives in Greenville, Texas, and when not doing astronomy or administrative tasks he enjoys playing guitar and bass, walking his Doberman, Dexter, and exploring the world with his wife Janie.

I absolutely love this book ! If you were like me and thought boxing was just about slugging think again ! After reading this book I realized how underated of an art boxing is . If you have studied arts like wing chun or southern praying mantis you will appreciate the knowledge and the similarities in parrying . No wonder Bruce Lee added more boxing into his art ! Boxing is truly the sweet science .

I like the idea of learning to counterpuch, but love the idea of understanding when,, what, where and how to do it correctly. This book teaches all of the above. It is full of good pictures and gives plenty of fighting offensive and defensive counter punching scenarios. There is a wealth of knowledge in this book and no shortage of photographic examples to increase your fighting brain power and muscle memory. I like it - a lot!

This was a gift to a boxing teacher, and he liked it.

One of the best books on the subject I have ever seen

I love that it has numerous pictures throughout the book to illustrate the punches. I have found this very useful in my boxing gym.

Very readable publication. A little chatty script but great photos and clear message. However, nothing replaces the actual physical contact training!

Pretty good I like it . Theres a lot that goes unsaid in the book and it could be better written but for guy whos learning , I thinks it decent

There are some good tactics in the book but it is incredibly basic - if you were already trained in boxing it won't help you (it didn't help me at least). Also, all of the pictures that are used as demos for offensive/defensive maneuvers are inexplicably done by left handed fighters... it gets really old trying to reverse it in your head.

Melisa grew up in San Jose, California where she trained at Almaden Valley Gymnastics Club for ten years. She then went on to compete for Utah State University where she was a two time Academic All-American and team captain. Melisa says that gymnastics taught her fitness for life. My daughter bought the first book and loved it so, we ordered the 2nd and she devoured it in a day. We just ordered the 3rd book and are waiting for the 4th to come out. It is positive and fun and empowering for her to read. Although she no longer takes gymnastics (she just became a 1st Degree Black Belt), she still is interested in the story and the characters. I would highly recommend this book.

My daughter (age 8, level 4 gymnast) loves these books. She is a bit of a reluctant reader -- and much prefers spending her time in the gym. These books have grabbed her interest. She appreciates that the routines/skills described in the book (the characters are level 3, I believe) are accurate, and finds the stories relatable. Perfect reading level for grades 2-4. Looking forward to the next one!

Funny thing, once you get over the hump it is easy as milk and cookies....but getting to that point is tough if you try to do it all on your own as I did. (I had no choice way way back.)Fortunately you have Dr. Andy's book that tells you everything you need to know...step by step. You have his book tutorial on one device or screen and Wordpress on the other.... You can have the start for your site up in a day of very pleasant peckings, guaranteed...and what's more you'll actually understand what you just did...and be able to replicate with authority. (I say "replicate" because once the site is up you populate it with your great stuff.)I can't tell you strongly enough that Dr. Andy's book will save you weeks of research...trying to do it for yourself from scratch. It's even good for folks like me who already have a Wordpress site up!I have the book. I also have 80 or so websites behind me, most of the later ones optimized the Dr. Andy way for max traffic. Yes, there is more than just building the site...you have to do things to get traffic. But again, I have the book because there are always things I forgot....and a couple of WP things I didn't know and relying on the brain of Dr. Andy gives me the Wordpress edge I need. He is MY goto guy and you need to make him yours. His latest tip and trick on a little ditty called SSL saved me untold pain and angst recently. For instance.Get the book. A while back I had an idea for a webpage and thought, "No big deal. It can't be that tough to create a website." I started dabbling on-line, YouTube, etc. for information on how to build a website. I started one and, honestly, I liked how it looked until things started going goofy and then I had no idea how to fix it. My website knowledge was built on thin ice as it kinda held up, but it felt like it could crack at any moment. Then, thank my lucky stars, I found this book and, wow, I've learned so much! In my opinion, this is a must have for anyone who wants to build their website with a solid footing.

Andy's books and courses are always extremely informative and have actionable tips and ideas. I always walk away with ways to improve my sites.

I was hoping for more; the author did fairly good at dissecting various parts of the WordPress platform; but, did not really show how to put all the pieces together. I also found the Gutenberg editor did not work will with the authors recommended theme (2017). Going back and forth from the Gutenberg and classic editor was confusing and frustrating. And, many of the screen shots in the book did not match my images on my attempted website. Overall, I was disappointed in the book. I was hoping to have some semblance of a website by the time I got through the book, unfortunately that did not happen. I need to do further research beyond what this book offered me. The author claims you will be able to "build a professional website in a few short hours." This is simply "not true." I gave it 3 stars because the book was reasonably priced, otherwise I would have given it 2 stars.

The book is well written and provides a step by step walk though the setup with Wordpress. Excellent resources and learning book.

I would give five stars, if the TOC and Index were more descriptive. When done, the content would benefit.

It is written like I have a private class. Really easy to understand. I'm looking forward to being able to finish my website with it.
